what if we underestimated inanimate objects

what if like the cells of our own bodies at the mercy of some invading cancer, rocks (and other fundamental materials of earth) that would seem to have had no remarkable life until re-imagined by the opportunistic intruder were actually at the command or part of a larger more amazing and complex "being", not inanimate for lack of imagination but in service of their function to the larger whole. what if rocks were masters of meditation and contentment was their default and unassailable state, incapable of any jealousy of the animal world with its unfortunate and endless quotidian struggle to satisfy needs both extraneous AND essential, rocks may be the arm of a being so much larger and more powerful than any we can imagine.
